Bay County dogs now have a place to go and be themselves. As part of an on-going project, county commissioners opened a new dog park Saturday off Cato Drive.
The October opening featured a doggy costume contest drawing a diverse crowd, from animals dressed as humans, to animals dressed as other animals.
Commissioner Jerry Girvin welcomed residents to the new park that took more than 100 thousand dollars to build with the help of Bay County Animal Control.
Residents say the park is worth the wait for a place where their dogs can just be dogs.
“It’s a great place to have them socialized and just spend quality time with them,” said Monique Bryan.
Dogs are allowed to run around without their leashes at the park.
