News 13 Flies into the Eye of Ike

Titan 13 Meteorologist Jessica Foster and Videographer Brandon Smith had a unique opportunity to ride with the Hurricane Hunters.  The flight took off from Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi early Friday morning. 

The crew flew into Hurricane Ike.  The mission lasted for nine hours.  During the mission, instruments were dropped into the storm to take measurements such as wind speed, wind direction, and pressure.  That data is then sent to the National Hurricane Center for analysis and is also used in computer models.
