Today Bay County residents came out in large numbers to show support for our veterans. Around the community, events honored and celebrated those who lost their lives defending our country and those who continue to serve today.
The day began with a parade in Downtown Panama City. It traveled from Bay High School to the Panama City Marina where a ceremony was held for local veterans.
Three veterans in particular were honored today. They just so happen to be Bay County’s oldest vets. They are 77 year old Bob Thompson, 86 year old Robert Shumaker, and 95 year old Albert Patterson.
Each of those veterans served in three different wars; World War II, The Vietnam War, and The Korean War.

I think the wreath and floral yellow ribbon are fantastic but can you tell us who made them in case we might like to shop there? I think there was a slight error at the end of the story. The write up said all three Veteran served in all three conflicts but the 77yo would have only been 15yo at the end of WW-II. Maybe you intended to say he served in the last two listed or is his age incorrect? Unless he was one of a few who came-in while exaggerating his age as 18 when only 14 because he wanted to Serve his country in our time of need. Minor point & still appreciate you covering this story, just curious.
