U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd says he has no problem with responsible offshore oil drilling. His only concern is the military mission line off the Panhandle coastline where the Navy and Air Force conduct training missions. He is also in favor of looking for oil in Anwar in Alaska.
But the Democratic Congressman from Monticello says we must also look for alternative and renewable energy sources at the same time, so America can be independent from foreign oil.
As for the war in Iraq, Congressman Boyd says it is time the Iraqi’s stepped up and did a better job policing their own country. He toured the area with several other lawmakers about a year ago. He said they were able to get on the ground and tour the Dora Marketplace where some 300 businesses had reopened.
On the issue of the race for President, when asked if he supported fellow Democrat Barack Obama, he said he would continue to watch both men campaign.
He too is campaigning, seeking his 7th term in office. He faces the winner of the Republican primary in November.
