Meadows is the Republican incumbent. He faces a challenge by retired Circuit Judge Glenn Hess. Meadows has been criticized by his opponent for not properly training young prosecutors in his office, but he says they are trained. He says Assistant State Attorney Joe Grammer is a leading legal trainer and offers competent training programs for employees.
Steve Meadows says he is proud of the 83% conviction rate his office holds. He says the state attorneys office doesn’t just go after the large high profile cases, he allows victims in lower profile cases to have their day in court and that is part of that number. He says he cares about the community. Meadows says he looks at the office as not just a sword to go out and bring the toughest of the tough to justice, but to protect the community from injustice in whatever form and from whatever avenue may come.
