Panama City, Fla:
Panama City Christian School is closing its doors Tuesday, June 30th.
A release sent from the school Monday evening says the program is suffering from a decline in enrollment due to the struggling economy.
Parents with students enrolled for the 2009-2010 school year will be receiving letters which include refunds for any tuition that has already been paid.
The school has been open for 49 years.
The day care and summer camp will continue as scheduled through Friday, August 14th. The release states that a letter will be sent to parents with students enrolled in the next school year. Enclosed is an explanation of the closure along with a refund of any money paid for the 2009 - 2010.
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18
Says it all…
It is a sad thing to see, this school has seen hard times before and made it,the difference is the leadership. When they want to do something for personal gain and a over sized ego things will never turn out the way they should.
Economy may have had a small part in the closing but the person who should own this failure never will.
I will say it took longer than I thought it would, three short years- still fast work!
I agree with the first comment about PCCS closing
it is sad due to my daughter started there in 7th
grade with the mckay scholarship and class rooms
were small students got more attention. In my daughter senior year changes in adminstration took
place, teachers started to leave including students
my daughter was one of them. It was a good school
at one time, but there were many changes which
seemed to seal it’s fate.
I strongly disagree with the economy being the reason for this school’s closing. A gross mismanagement of funds and lack of solid leadership are more than likely the main culprits. If the economy truly is to blame then Covenant, St. John’s, and Holy Nativity (all with higher tuition than PCCS) should be closing as well. In fact, PCCS should be benefiting because they are the cheapest private school in town.
And to Lester, just because it’s a “Christian” school doesn’t make it a wholesome environment. The Christian testimony there is seriously lacking!
It is Panama City. How many people here value a wholesome environment for their children?
No, letting their kids run loose on the streets while the parents are getting high is more in line with the Panama City value system.

I wonder why the school still has a banner up saying its accepting registations for the fall. Drove by there this morning and still on the fence!
