Panama City Police Arrest Four on Charges of Stealing Copper Wire

The Panama City Police Department announces the arrest of four individuals involved in theft of copper wire. On October 26, 2009 the Panama City Police Department was notified about the theft of copper wire from a building located at 2830 East First Court. Through an investigation the four suspects have been identified and charges have been filed against the following subjects:

• Charles Jacob Poole, 25 years of age, charged with Burglary of a Structure, Theft of Copper and Dealing in Stolen Property.

• Effie Lee Pharham, 45 years of age, charged with Theft of Copper.

• Charles Ray Eldridge, 40 years of age, charged Theft of Copper and Dealing in Stolen property.

• Lena Barfield, 62 years of age, charged with Accessory to Theft of Copper.

The crimes occurred between the dates of September 1st 2009 and October 26th 2009. The copper was valued at $18,000.00 dollars. The business was previously operated under the name Sea Sweet Seafood. There may be other vacant buildings or businesses that have had the copper wire stripped from them in the area. The case is still under investigation. A fifth suspect has been identified and further charges are expected.
