DeFuniak Springs, FL - A Benefit Catfish Dinner is being held for 12 year-old Zachary Cook at Wee Care Park in DeFuniak Springs on June 19th, 10 am to 4pm. The funds will enable the Paxton 6th grader to return to Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware in July for a second series of surgery relating to a rare form of dwarfism called Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia Congenital (SDC).
Funds raised on June 19 will help pay for surgery to realign Zachary’s hips and lengthen his right leg. He will have to stay at Alfred I. duPont Hospital in Wilimington, Delaware for 2 months and then he will be homebound for an extended period of time.
Zackary’s father, Frankie Cook, works for Florida Transformers, and his mother, Kimberly Cook, is Zackary’s primary caregiver. His Grandparents, Quitman and Ann Norris, along with Cleo and Myrtle Cook, are lifelong residents of Walton County. Both Grandfathers are retired from Walton County Board of County Commissioners.
Plates are $8.00 and include baked beans, cole slaw, hushpuppy and dessert. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Susan at 850-834-3369. Please leave a message if no one is available to take your call.
