A fuzzy addition to the family is just a drive away. At Bay County Animal Control, adoptable pets wait for a home.
“Come in here, visit with our pets, fall in love with something,” said Bay County Animal Control Director, Jim Crosby.
Many pet-lovers already have fallen. This year, nearly 1,300 found a friend. That’s up from about 500 in 2007.
“We’ve been able to double almost triple adoptions in two years,” said Crosby.
From a snowy-white husky, to a mustached kitty named Charlie Chaplin, it’s hard to resist.
“I find it personally very important to try to get every animal that I can, out of here alive,” said Crosby, “We don’t care if someone comes in everyday, until they find just that right pet.”
The Roland family easily found a match.
“I’m getting me a dog,” said Roland.
Young J.J. Found J.T. and now the pup is part of the family.
“Just take him home, have somebody to have fun with while my moms at work,” said Roland.
If you’ve got a space to fill in your home and in your heart, you may want to check out the pets at Bay County Animal Control.
With Christmas just around the corner, a pet is a popular gift and Animal Control wants to make sure you take your time. That’s why they are offering gift cards. That means you can pay the fee and pick up whatever pet you want at a later time.
If you want to check out pets sooner than that, you can head to Petsmart on 23rd Street this Street this Saturday.
