A fourth man has been named as a suspect in the case of an elderly Cottondale resident who died as the result of a beating last month.
Cottondale Police Chief William Watford said a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Toriano Decoryell “Corey” Grant, 24, of Marianna.
Alfred Delk, 75, was robbed and beaten on Sept. 15 and died Sept. 24. An autopsy on Sept. 27 confirmed that he died as the result of injuries he received in the attack, according to Watford.
Three men were initially charged on Sept. 17 with attempted murder and robbery in the case. They are Joshua Pullum, 22, Willie Lloyd III, 23, and Kendrick Brown, 20, all of Marianna.
Watford said Grant emerged as an additional suspect in the course of the investigation.
Anyone who has any information concerning Grant’s whereabouts is asked to call the Cottondale Police Department at 352-4361, or CrimeStoppers at 526-5000.
According to an earlier press release about the attack, Delk was approached as he got out of his vehicle at his home in the early morning hours of Sept. 15.
An altercation ensued, and Delk was severely beaten. The assailants took Delk’s wallet and left. The victim tried to go inside his home to call for help, but couldn’t find his keys, police reported. He then blew his car horn until a neighbor awoke and found him slumped over the steering wheel.
Delk was taken to hospital and died several days later.
