Panama City Beach, Fla:

An argument turns deadly inside Panama City Beach home this weekend.  Authorities are now naming 38 year-old Robert Bumpus and 36 year-old Karrie Bumpus as the victims of a murder-suicide.

“There was someone outside screaming.  I was inside with my son,” says neighbor Jason Fisher.  He’s lived at the Cabana West Apartments on Panama City Beach for less than a month and was shocked at what he saw when he walked out to his patio.

“Wake up in the morning and come outside and there’s all kinds of ambulances, police officers and it’s kind of weird,” says Fisher.

Investigators work the scene with the Medical Examiners Office and try to piece together what happened in Apartment 1512.

“Upon arrival we found two persons deceased.  We’re working with the medical examiners office but preliminary it looks like we have a murder-suicide of a married couple,” says Captain Jimmy Stanford with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

The Bumpus’s 16 year-old son discovered the bodies Saturday morning and came outside screaming for help.  Authorities say Robert shot his wife Karrie once and then turned the gun on himself.

Karrie’s parents are reportedly with the teenager. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for questioning but authorities tell News 13 that they’re not concerned that the teenager didn’t hear gunshots in the two bedroom apartment.

“Certainly his [the child] welfare is our top priority,” says Stanford.

Investigators are also taking a statement from the people that live next door after they report hearing an argument between the couple around 10:30 Thursday night.

The bodies have been turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.
