Panama City Police’s furriest hostage was rescued last night.
The store, Sweet Puppy Luv, had one of it’s shihtzu puppies stolen last month from the 23rd Street store.
Panama City Police say Aisha Victoria Slay, 28, put the puppy under her shirt and walked out of the store.
Slay has been charged with grand theft.
The workers noticed the puppy missing at the end of the night after watching the surveillance footage.
Investigators were able to get the puppy back last night after getting a tip.
Owner Laurie Denton says she’s very excited to have the puppy back.
“Oh we’re just elated to have her back. I could not believe walking into the Panama City Police Department last night and seeing her. It was unbelievable. We are just so excited to get her back.” said Denton.
The store will be taking bids on the puppy all day tomorrow until 6 p.m. Anyone wishing to place a bid is encouraged to stop by the store and see her.
The proceeds received after paying for the cost of the puppy, will go to the Bay County Humane Society.
