Panama City, Fla:
The local chapter of the American Red Cross is busy making preparations for possible impact by what may become Hurricane Fay. Volunteers and staff are taking steps necessary to set up a sheltering operation should conditions call for it. Residents of Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties are urged to pay close attention to all announcements from the Red Cross and their local office of Emergency Management.
The local Red Cross is also urging that all local residents take this opportunity to make sure that personal preparations are complete. Every household should have at least three days food and water for each person and pet. People who are on prescription medications should ensure that they will have an adequate uninterrupted supply of their medications. While there is no line, make sure that your vehicle’s gas tank in full. Make sure that your disaster kit is fully stocked with batteries, flashlights, radio, manual can opener, cash etc. Call a relative out of state and make arrangements to visit with them if called on to evacuate. Stay tuned to local media for important announcements.
For further information, you can visit redcrosscpc.org or call your local Red Cross at 763-6587.
