Bay County, Fla:
Parker residents and officials come together over a proposed post office closure Monday night
The United States Postal Service says it is considering closing the Parker post office due to the economy. The announcement was made last week.
A meeting was held at the American Legion on 15th Street to discuss the future of Panama City’s Eastside Station in Parker.
Brenda Hendricks, the mayor of Parker, said the post office is important to her town. “There are no other words to describe the closeness of our community, except, to our locals, closing this office is like taking a knife to the the heart of the city,” she says.
Postal officials at the meeting stressed to residents that nothing is official. The closure is just being considered.
Does anyone have any data on how many offices are being considered for closure nation wide?. I agree it would be an inconvience and a pain in the neck, but with the Postal service losing Billions every year (of our money) it’s about time they started down sizing some where. It’s not like there are no other services available.

The Post Office does not receive any money from the taxpayers. The only revenue it receives is from their sale of postage stamps, rental of post office boxes and sale of merchandise. Nice try Mr. desk but that is simply not true. Look it up. Have a nice day!!!
