Authorities say Robert Sturdivant struck two year old Isaiah Howard so hard he flew off the coffee table he was standing on and flew into a wall.
Prosecuters didn’t waste any time in schowcasing the emotion involved with the death of two year old Isaiah Howard. After opening statements, the trial began with witness testimony from Isaiah’s mother, Brittany Howard. She had to relive that night on November 9, 2007, that was the last night she saw her son.
Robert Sturdivant first gave testimony saying Isaiah fell off the coffee table, onto his stomach, and ultimately onto his head. After autopsy results proved Isaiah died from blunt trauma force, Sturdivant changed his testimony in a taped confession. He explains how he left the bathroom to find Isaiah on the coffee table, he then approached the table and struck him.
Sturdivant’s trial will continue on throughout the week and is expected to wrap up on Friday.
