(Santa Rosa Beach, Florida), October 8, 2008 – The South Walton Fire District (SWFD) is proud to welcome six new firefighters; Andrew Cotton, Ryan Fredricks, Luke Lewis, Dan Margagliano, Tim Parker and Brad Williams to our team. For the past six months the new firefighters have undertaken their initial training and indoctrination into the SWFD.
Today’s firefighter pledge (“pinning ceremony”) marks the successful completion of their probation period under the guidance and leadership of their Lieutenants. The pinning ceremony is a time honored tradition of the fire service. “I had the opportunity to participate in the hiring process for these 6 firefighters that were chosen from a very impressive field of candidates, and during the past 6 months they have proven themselves to be of SWFD caliber. Congratulations and welcome aboard.” said Lieutenant Paul Mehlos.
The SWFD pledge is as follows;
To be loyal to the South Walton Fire District and the customers we serve. I will not betray the customer’s trust, my integrity, or the faith the District has placed in my character.
I am my brother’s keeper, as such; it is my duty to carry out our mission:
“Prompt, Competent, Caring Response in Time of Need”, regardless of the circumstances.
I hold myself accountable and responsible for my health, safety, training, fitness, and attitude.
I will display pride and professionalism
I will uphold and follow the laws, policies and guidelines of the South Walton Fire District.
I will faithfully serve.
