Panama City Beach, Fla:
The windy conditions aren’t stopping spring breakers from visiting the worlds most beautiful beaches.
It started out slow, but the first official week of spring break is booming.
“We filled up starting Saturday and we’ve been full ever since. We anticipate being that way for the next two weeks,” said Holiday Inn Resort Director of Marketing, Philip Colvin.
All across Panama City Beach students pack the pools and shores.
“Perhaps it was because of the weather up north that more kids want to get away for spring break but the booking pace for this year has been accelerated. We booked up and sold out faster than we did last year and we look like we’re going to do better this March overall than we did last year,” said Colvin.
While temperatures have warmed up significantly in the past couple of weeks, spring breakers say it’s still a little cold and windy. But that doesn’t stop them from coming out to the beach.
“I came for the sun, but it’s not really showing too much. I’m just cold because of the wind,” said spring breaker Kelsey Kohut.
“Man its cold out… We thought it was going to be a lot warmer than 60-70 degrees, windy, cloudy. Not really a fan of that,” said spring breaker Chase Behrendt.
Many braved the wind in their bathing suits, but others enjoyed the breaks in the clouds in their clothes. Some first time visitors, like Kohut and Behredt, say it’s not what they expected.
“I think next year we might try to go further south maybe try closer to Miami or Fort Lauderdale,” he said.
But other PCB spring break veterans say they’ll never go anywhere else.
“As much as Panama City is a cliché... It’s still fun for me,” said Ashley Smith, returning for his 7th spring break.
The Holiday Inn also says that corporate sponsorships are down. They say those sponsorships are a big deal because they give activities and free merchandise for the guests.

“I think next year we might try to go further south maybe try closer to Miami or Fort Lauderdale,”. I have a news flash for this guy. The last time I was in Ft. Lauderdale they didn’t want these drunken, drugged out Spring Breakers either. So I guess that just leaves North Cuba, or what we used to know as Miami. G’bye!
