Panama City Beach, Fla:
The Tourist Development Council is changing their marketing plan. The target is your cell phone.
The TDC and Convention and Visitors Bureau announced plans, Tuesday, to text message tourists. The texts would tell tourists about special offers while in town.
MTV U will also return next year, choosing Panama City Beach as the network’s official Spring Break beach location. Students could sign up for the text program, on MTV’s website. Their info would then be kept on a database. TDC Marketing Director Dan Rowe says the new method would encourage return visitation.
“If a student was getting ready to graduate from college we would send them a message congratulating them on their accomplishment, but encouraging them to come back to panama city beach after they graduate. Then as they go throughout their life when they have their family is to bring their kids. So we’ll be able to track the visitation by spring breakers,” Rowe said.
The CVB will also dedicate $100,000 to establish a family Spring Break campaign. It will target families with school aged kids during the first two months in April.
Wow, you guys are like NASA “Smart”....Texting people to tell them where they are, brilliant! The TDC has done it again, they have unwittingly re-inveneted the wheel!! Let me guess, you pinheads hired some consultant from Dothan and, for only $100,000, they clued you in on this blockbuster gem of an idea…PCB residents are leaving in droves. All the TDC and local business owners care about is stacking cash. They could really care less about the locals, and by wasting tax revenue on these stupid, “Rowe” inspired media campaigns instead of hiring REAL LIFEGAURDS, just shows how beligerent these parasites are. They are ruining PCB, and must be stopped.Oh, and by the way, MTV is what brought scumbag Joe Francis down here. Bringing them(MTV) back, on purpose, is like volunteering to stick an HIV infected needle in your eye. Gotta go, I have to find my video camera and my GGW trucker hat, Spring Break 2009, WOOOO- HOOOOOO, party time starts in just five short months”!

You are absolutely right on this one SurfSlayer. They threw MTV out because it brought in the wrong kind of people, gut when they took their money somewhere else…..... OOOOOHHHHH, we need to bring back MTV, Pepsi Bash, and all the other crap that brought all the Craptacular people here in the first place. Make up your mind PCB, Are we a family beach, or are we pawning our youth to the highest bidder and pimping our beaches.
You cant invite the devil in for tea and then complain about his behavior
