Jackson County, Fla:
Two county residents have been arrested after authorities uncovered an alleged theft ring involving video games and electronic devices.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, approximately $1,800 in video games and electronic devices were stolen from Wal-Mart and pawned or sold to Game Stop of Marianna and other locations.
Authorities had been investigating the thefts for a month before the arrests were made.
James Henry Rye, 25, of 1211 Dwelling St., Alford, and Angelica McDonald, 18, of 4464 Highway 71, Greenwood were arrested Wednesday for dealing in stolen property.
The sheriff’s office reported that Rye and McDonald are just two members of a ring of suspects that stole games and game-related equipment from the local Wal-Mart, as well as Wal-Mart stores in the surrounding area.
Authorities allege those in the group would then pawn the merchandise for cash.
Other suspects have been arrested in Dothan, Ala., and further arrests are expected, according to the sheriff’s office.
The identities of the other suspects were not available Thursday.
