Bay County, Fla:
Two juveniles have been arrested and deputies are looking for a third man believed to be involved in two separate Paintball shooting incidents that occurred on July 6 and July 8, 2009.
At about 11 o’clock the evening of July 6, 2009, a man and his son, accompanied by a woman, were walking near 8762 Thomas Drive, Panama City Beach. As they walked, a red car passed them traveling west on Thomas Drive. As the car passed, someone in the car leaned out the open window and shot the woman and the 9 year old child with a paintball gun.
During the evening hours on July 8, 2009, seven young adults were skating at the skateboard park on McElvey Road, Panama City Beach, when a red car passed the park. Five of the young adults were shot with a paintball gun by someone within the red car. Two of the victims got into their own vehicle and attempted to pursue the red car. The shooters continued to fire paint balls at the victim’s vehicle and finally eluded the victims, who returned to the skateboard park and called the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
While taking the report, the deputy saw a red car pass by the park matching the description given by the victims. He followed the car and they turned off Thomas Drive down Buck Lane. At the end of the road, they sped off down a trail into a wooded area. The deputy was able to stop the car. As he approached the vehicle a 17 year old male got out of the car. A 15 year old male was found in the backseat, pretending to be asleep. Paintball guns were found in the wooded area on both sides of the vehicle as well as Co2 cartridges used in firing Paintball guns. Also found were paint balls the exact color as found on the victims and their vehicle.
Geremy Tevin Miller, DOB 1/6/92, of 3109 E. 8th Street, Springfield, was arrested and charged with Principle to Aggravated Battery for the incident on July 6, 2009, because he is believed to have driven the red car during that incident, and Aggravated Battery for the incident on July 8, 2009, because investigators believe he used a Paintball gun during the second incident. Also arrested was Detorius Raheem Rivers, DOB 8/6/93, of 1507 Hwy 22 in Callaway, who was charged with Principle to Aggravated Battery for driving the red car during the incident on July 8, 2009. A third suspect is believed to have fled the car into the wooded area. Investigators are looking for Vincent Lamar Harris, DOB 5/25/90, of 903 Greentree Road, Springfield, and intend to charge him with two counts of Aggravated Battery.
Good day, I am James Boulter, a founder of the World Paint Ball Union. The WPBU was internationally founded by myself and Tom Cunningham from Canada and Daniel Sperry from the USA. We are a Union of Paint ball Players both professional and recreational.
We have heard and read many items of this incident. I am glad to see they have been caught. People should not misuse sports equipment in this way, the victims could have been seriously injured from not having the safety equipment which is required to play paint ball. We here at the WPBU hope that people read and learn from this. It is the choice one person makes to take an action. If the action is not good, there will be discipline awaiting them when they get caught.
