Officials at Tyndall Air Force Base confirm that they are conducting an investigation into a Gulf County Commission race.

Captain Amanda Ferrell at Tyndall tells News 13 that Commander Darryl Roberson directed an investigation into allegations that a contractor misused government resources to help with Bo William’s campaign for Gulf County Commissioner.  Ferrell could not elaborate on the allegations except to say that the contractor had access to multimedia equipment used for photography and graphic support at the base.

Bo Williams, a Democrat, faces Republican incumbent Bill Williams in the race.  Bill Williams has also filed a state election complaint relating to the incident.  Captain Ferrell says Tyndall will conduct their investigation as quickly and thoroughly as possible and work with the base’s legal team to decide on a course of action.

News 13 spoke with Bo Williams regarding the investigation.  He said he has not yet been notified of the investigation by Tyndall, and therefore had no comment at this time.
