The fate of a Bay County dog that attacked a toddler earlier this month is now in the hands of its owners.
Two-year-old Valencia Newton was attacked by the dog while in the care of a 17 year old babysitter.
The baby was taken to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.
Animal Control says this was the second time the dog bit someone. The first time it wasn’t deemed serious, so the dog wasn’t declared dangerous.
This time, the animal has been declared dangerous, and is in quarentine.
A request to a special magistrate is still pending to determine if the dog is vicious. If he is labeled vicious he will be put to sleep.
The owners of the dog can either put him down or appeal by March 24th.
The owner of the Dog should be 100% responsible.
NOT THE DOG!
Killing the dog wont solve the problem.
So sad the Authorities don’t investigate the incident to find out the circumstances that led to the attack.
Cause most of the time the dog was provoked and the child was not supervised properly.
THE DOG SHOULD BE RE HOMED WITH A MORE RESPONSIBLE FAMILY.
