Names have been released in Saturday evening’s fatal Calhoun County accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a truck driven by 28-year-old James White, Jr. or Leesburg, Georgia, was traveling south on State Road 71 near Blountstown at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The truck traveled onto the west shoulder, and White overcorrected, sending the truck into a spin. It crossed into the northbound land, hitting an SUV driven by 40-year-old Sergio Espinoza of Blountstown.

Espinoza’s passenger, 19-year-old Jose Cruz-Ramirez, also of Blountstown, was killed in the accident.

Espinoza suffered critical injuries and was taken to Bay Medical Center.

White was also taken to Bay Medical Center with Serious injuries.

Tests to determine whether the accident was alcohol-related are pending.
