Walton County, Fla:

A murder investigation in Walton County begins Wednesday and ends Friday as authorities locate the victim’s body in Holmes County.

Authorities found the victim, identified as 45 year old Robert James Dickens, this morning in Holmes County near Gritney. This homicide case has been according to the sheriff, a long process.

Friday morning in Holmes County members of the Walton, Okaloosa, and Holmes County Sheriff’s Offices comb through the woods near Gritney community to try and locate the victim of a murder. The suspect is 32 year old Ira Alexander Randall of DeFuniak springs. The whole thing began Wednesday night in DeFuniak Springs, according to authorities.

Camile Cox with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office recounts the events on Wednesday evening “…the Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a tip at German Club Road due to a tip we had received. When we responded, the scene led us to believe that a battery had occurred, but at that time we did not have any information on a suspect or a victim.”

It’s at this home on German Club Road in DeFuniak springs that authorities suspect that Ira Alexander Randall murdered Robert Dickens of Ponce de Leon. His body was found in Holmes county Friday morning.

In fact, Randall was arrested and taken into custody by Okaloosa County authorities on a Holmes County warrant for dealing stolen property. Evidence gleaned from the initial crime scene helped identify the Randall as the suspect. Okaloosa authorities turned Randall over to Walton County after his arrest in Destin Thursday.

Undersheriff Bill Chapman explains “…the vehicle description was put out and a hotel…actually a motel down on highway 98…it was the Country Inn and Suites on Commerce Drive in Destin.”

The suspect aided authorities in helping to locate the victim’s body in Holmes County Friday morning.

Ira Randall is in custody at the Holmes County jail. It is unknown when he will be transported to Walton County. The suspect does have a criminal history including charges of involuntary manslaughter in the state of Mississippi.
