Walton County Woods Fire

Crews spend Sunday afternoon fighting a 50 acre woods fire in Walton County.

The call came in around 2:00 p.m. from 4552 Bunker Road, off the west end of Steelfield Road.

Eight units from Bay County Fire are battling the flames. The Division of Forestry also sent six units and two supervisors to the scene.

Officials say they could not get an aircraft up because of high winds.

Three homes were in immediate area, but were not damaged.

The American Red Cross provided water and food for the firefighters.

The Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement is investigating the cause of the fire.
