American soldiers wounded overseas receive quite a welcome Thursday.

The Warrior Beach Retreat gives these families a chance to relax and talk with other military families going through similar challenges.

Thursday, Bay County residents lined the streets to show how much they appreciate their service.

Mrs. Cope deserves a great “Thank You” from all of us in the community in doing what she has done. Sadly, our military has not always felt the respect that our men and women are getting now.  Many a poor returning vet from “Nam was cursed, spit on, and called names just because they did what their country asked them to do.  When I came back from from my last tour, which was in Korea, it was suggested that we remove our uniforms and wear civvies home, it was that bad. Many of us from that era did not believe in what we were doing but our country said “Go” and we went, unlike some that even wound up in the White House. My hat is off to these brave men and women that are serving, and have served, in our armed forces today.  These are the cream of what makes America what it is.
