With each New Year comes new resolutions. There always new and original ones, but most of the time people stick with the classics. One of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions is an old favorite - losing weight.
“I heard a lot of losing weight resolutions,” says Sean Scarber, Bay County resident. “That’s why every time I go in the gym, there’s a lot more people than there was a couple months ago because everyone is trying to lose weight.”
“Around usually the second week of January we really see it pick up so people are trying to set their resolutions,” says Mike McKinney, owner of Gold’s Gym on 15th Street.
But as with all resolutions, making them is the easy part.
“You have to stick with it,” says Natalie Judd, Bay County resident. “And when you hit your plateau or you don’t lose anything you just don’t give up, just keep going.”
“People need to come in and know that they have to pace themselves,” says McKinney, “Don’t try to do it every day and just burn yourself out on just chicken and broccoli and working out all the time.”
The most important thing to remember is that no matter your goal, stick with it.
“Be true to yourself if you’re going to set yourself out there for a goal,” says Tonia Reynolds, Bay County resident. “Make sure you accomplish that so when December 31st of that year comes you can say look what I accomplished.”
Still haven’t picked a new year’s resolution? Here are a few of the most popular: Losing weight, stop smoking, get out of debt, spend more time with family and friends, and learn something new.
