Walton County, Fla:
Walton County School District and Walton Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the graduation of nineteen future leaders from the Youth Leadership Walton class at South Walton High School on Wednesday, January 27th, at the Northwest Florida State College South Walton Center.
“This is not an end but a beginning for you to use the knowledge, skills, and confidence gained from this class to become leaders and future leaders in Walton County,” said Superintendent of Schools Carlene Anderson. “I wish I would have had the opportunity to take a class like this when I was your age because I learned much later in life how to empower myself through effective leadership.”
“This class is a dream come true for Supt. Anderson and myself,” said Walton Area Chamber of Commerce Dawn Moliterno.
Graduating students included Bryant Adams, Katherine Baker, Yasmin Chauhan, Brittany Crittenden, Will Dargavell, John Harrison, Emmett Hightower, Kalie Krumel, Tristan LaNasa, Malorie Leach, Katy Lewandowski, Katelynn Marcum, Blaine Mershon, Carolina Osorio, Sarah Suwak, Valerie Theobald, Rebekah Thorgaard, McKenzie Wakefield, and Abbie Young.
The Youth Leadership Walton class is modeled after the Chamber’s Leadership Walton program but aligned with Sunshine State Standards for leadership techniques. The class is a partnership between the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Walton County School District and is taught by Meredith Spence, Public Relations and Grants Development Walton County School District. The inaugural class began at South Walton High School last spring and is now hosting a class at Freeport High School as well as South Walton High.
