Retirement Series

Say what!!!  Say it ain’t so.  I object.  They put in some time over an 8 year period and they get paid for the rest of their lives?  That is outrageous.  If all states do this, no wonder states are near or at a bankrupt condition.  I don’t mind elected officials being compensated for their time during that period that they “serve” the public interest. NOT! Anything else after they are no longer “serving” is ridiculous.  It’s insane.  I worked a really hard job for over 10 years. It was considered a part time job and I got no benefits and I get nothing now that I’m no longer working there.  I know that being an elected official is a cut above being a cashier in a privately owned liquor/souvenir w/lotto store. Well, it depends on who you ask. Anyway.  Thanks for allowing me my 2 cents.

Retirement Series

I would like to question, comment, and suggest in response to the vote being taken.  I worked for over 20 years (full-time, every day) in county government, but not as an elected official.  Now that I am not able to work, I have neither retirement nor insurance, no income.  Many of these part-time officials show up for half of the meetings they are responsible to be at.  Pay?  Sure, they say that is not the reason they run, but see who continues to show up when their money runs dry.  It’s atrocious, and I hope some younger, new ‘blood’ will bring about a more equitable change for the public on this!  Thank you, Amy!  You’re great!

Retirement Series

I think it is outrageous for county commissioners and school board members to receive full, lifetime retirement benefits for 8 years of service.  It is a complete ripoff of the taxpayers money and should be stopped as soon as possible.

Former Sheriff Settlement

I think that it is ridiculous that Mrs. Aultman would be acting this way. Her son was indeed the hero, however Mr McDaniel lost someone too! How embarrassing for the Aultman family to be portrayed like that. And furthermore, how petty to say that they would use the money for home maintenance! That makes it seem as though they are only after money. It is not McDainels fault, he was more than great during the whole ordeal considering he too lost someone close. Losing a child is no more horrible than losing a wife of many years. People need to grow up and not complain about money. As far as them being disabled, I am sure they are able to go out and do small repairs or get one of their grandchildren to help out! It was a terrible thing that happened to great people but people don’t have to make themselves look shallow because of it. God bless!

Cold Cases

Just wanted to say I’m glad your station is doing this segment and revisiting old cases..Like the mom from last nights case, I understand how she feels, you can’t rest if you have no body to bury and have a proper “goodbye”. My mom’s sister was murdered in 1949, it was a high political profile case, in case your wondering it was the murder of Ovita “Cricket” Coogler..
My mom’s family searched for 19 days for her body. They finally found her and were able to at least have a service, but they never found out who really killed her, of course we all have our opinions but its not the same as knowing. Next year will be 60 years, and it’s still a mistery. So for that mom and the many more I just wanted to say thank you for doing this new segment.

Former Jackson County Sheriff

To all that sees this. Mr McDaniel is a very nice person and does not deserve what was said about him by the Aultman Family. He went and stood by them when they lost there son and had just buried his wife . He did not have to do that. There are dupties killed every day and there families don,t acted that way.Money is not everything in this world. This man hurts just like they do. My heart goes out to Mr McDaniel.

Emissions

The Governor is looking at a bill to establish strict emission checks for vehicles in Florida. Bravo! Why stop there? Isn’t it time to get the broken tail lights, headlights, brakes, tires, and wheels fixed to make our roads safer? Why did the state stop vehicle inspections in the first place?

Presidential Candidates

When you turn on your television now you see only 2 candidate’s running to be our president Obama and McCain.I just got the offical sample ballot in the mail and I don’t recognize any of the other canidate’s nor have I heard about them nor seen them on the new’s. Why? How am I or any one else for that matter supposed to make a decision on who should run this country, if I dont know what all these other candidates stand for.  It is YOUR job to get us this info, and you have FAILED to do so.  I smell conspiracy!

Candidate Behavior

I would like to comment on the election, I do not have a question, however I would like to commend Mr. Mc Allister and Mr. Hess on their professionalism during their campaign.  As a senior citizen that has been voting all of my life, it is my desire to hear what you as a candidate can do for me, and not all of the smut that is dug up on your apponent.
Sincerely,

Local Police

Here we go again.  A local prosecutor is drunk passed out behind the wheel, leaves the seen of an accident and the police let him go.  The officers get one day suspension.
What is wrong with this picture?
Was he ever charged?  Leaving the seen of an accident or DUI.  Please follow up with this.  Now you wonder why we don’t trust the police.

WMBB has been digital for over a year. Try channel 19, that is where we are located on the dial if you are already using the digital converter box.

PETA

I was amused at your coverage of the PETA people advocating veganism and was just disgusted.  Green house gases do not come from cattle that are grass fed and are free of antibiotics and hormones.  If you really want to educate yourself, go to http://www.westonaprice.org and find out the real truth behind these people and their many deceptions about our food sources, especially about soy.  Otherwise, I will regard the media as people who will continue to deceive their viewers and I look forward to better times when Jesus returns with power and with glory to claim God’s Kingdom here on earth.

Recent Programing Changes

Having already submitted an email about the recent changes to the WMBB programming, I feel it necessary to let you know that we now turn the channel off of ABC when the morning programming goes to infomercials or the low class news shows. This along with another evening change to less desirable programming will eventually result in my family changing our viewing habits entirely. Maybe a little more HGTV on the satellite.

Animal Cruelty

I have been watching you all give the news for quiet some time now,and I dont think I have ever heard the term animal cruilty come up. I think this is a big issue and we need our comuity to be aware of whats going on. I am not saying that we should not eat meat.I know that God put some animals here for us to eat but I think we should be aware of how the animals are being treated. When I say that I mean how the animals are treated in the slaughter houses and how they are being treated where they stay and wait for their fate. I feel that we as humans could handle this and be more humane about it. They feel pain just like we do,and some of the animals are quiet smart. I think this is an issue that people dont know about or they just chose to ignore it either way I think that something has to be done about it.

Boil Water Notice

I have a great and easy remedy on how to notify Bay County or any of the other cities residents of a boil water notice. Since not everyone has a computer or has access to one, or isn’t online at the right time, or on the Bay County website, and the notice comes before the news comes on. Why not have the local stations crawl the notice across the bottom of the screen? I know that not everyone watches the local channels all the time, but at least I think more people would be made aware of the situation than what is being done now and until the County can come up with something better.
