Rain and standing water may have played a part in an accident on a Bay County bridge Saturday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, 18-year-old Kimberly French of Panama City was driving west on County Road 390 when she lost control after driving through a pocket of standing water.

They say she then veered into the east-bound lane and hit part of the Mills Bayou Bridge.

FHP says approximately 50 feet of the bridge was knocked out but that the bridge is still open.

French sustained only minor injuries.
